I am at the point where I need to lock down the rear wheel I will be using on my K100 rig. I am looking for a 5.5 X 15 alloy wheel with 3" or less backspacing. I have not had much luck locating such a creature. The downside of front wheel drive dominance I guess. What wheels are you guys using for your pusher? I would like to run a 185/60 or 70 15 tire.

Thanks,

Mike Lydon

Here's what I used on my K1100

It's a 195/50 x 16 on a Mini Cooper rim using an adapter made by Claude Stanley

I can't find a picture of the adapter, basically a big hunk of aluminum that bolts to the rear hub using the old lug bolts and has lug bolts for the minicooper rim.

The 195 is a tight fit, not sure if it would work with a stock exhaust.

P175-55R16 are there many choices in this size? Seems like an odd size.
Question

I think the Yokohama is the only choice. They make a different model in 175-50R16, but again they are the only one. (The 50 is 1/2 the price of the 55, for some reason).

Cool Tire Rack page to list all available sizes in 16":

I've been designing a K100 rig for a few years, and have decided trailer rims will be the solution for mine.
These can be had with little or no offset in 15x4.5 or 15x5 and will be suitable for 145 to 175 tires from either VW beetle or Smartcar.

Trailer rims are inexpensive, easy to obtain, and can be had in standard GM bolt pattern that mate to a wide array of aftermarket racing brake/hub/spindle arrangements.
