For those that were waiting for an update on how Doug and James were
doing at the IOM TT. This is not the kind of update I wanted to give.
I just got the phonecall a few minutes ago...
http://www.iomtt.com/blogs/tt_news/...5/27/54056.aspx
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The American sidecar crew of Doug Dano and James Cornell
crashed at May Hill, Ramsey. Dano was said to be ‘stable’ while
Cornell’s condition was described as serious.

I just received a call at 3:30 AM from 'Beric' over at the IOM tt.
He says that Doug and James were out on the very first marshall
led sighting lap at what would be considered a fairly low speed.
The group went around a corner, and for some reason the rig
did not turn and they went off course. Doug and James went
headfirst into a brick wall at speed. When the rig came back
down it landed on top of them both.
Sarah and I spoke to the hospital trying the 'We're relatives'
bit, and all they would say is that Doug was resting and James
was in critical condition. _________________ The Bad Blog http://blog.badcatracing.com |

It's well sad,
Isle of Man isn't far from me, I've just joined so only just read this post, sorry.
I was there it seemed such a strange accident, as said previously it wasn't at speed.
Everyone thought they would get up and walk away cussing kicking their misfortune.
Then the news came through that it was far more serious, at the time it was thought the steering had locked.
I'm so sorry for his family and friends it's always sad to loose someone. |

As a followup to this... they're doing much better these days.
Doug ran his F1 with us out at Reno/Fernley in August of last year. He was still a little sore from the IOM incident, but he still managed to place 8th.
James is doing better every week, he started talking about two months ago, and now nobody can shut him up. His ankles are healing well, and he's getting stronger and healthier every day. He says he plans to passenger again as soon as he is fit. He'd like to tackle the IOM again... after all, what are the odds of something like that happening twice?
I expect to be trading bootmarks with James in Superside America later in the 2007 season if he continues to heal at the rate he's going.

Moike,
I have not seen any updates on the jamescornellfund forum in almost a month, but did see that you and Sarah had been to visit James. How's he doing? I'm hoping it's a case of "no news is good news."
I never met James, but have felt involved since I bought a Dawg Pound Racing T-shirt to help send him over to the IOM, so I guess I'm just curious how he's progressing.
It would be great if he gets to the point where he could actually post something to the forum himself, let us know how he's feeling. |
