Things have been pretty quiet from our New England contingent lately.
Not even any pictures from recent local rides,
What's going on up there
Too much of this?
OK, I have to admit that I haven't ridden at all yet this year either. But I did go for a 50 mile ride a couple of days after Christmas. That was about the last day of decent temperatures (in the 40's) and decent road conditions. _________________ David D

Dar my dear man, you're treading on thin ice here.
Yes the string of storms these past few weeks have skirted us and provided us with what some to our north east would call a dusting. There are two things we must remember.
First, all of our friends you are directing this post towards are all bigger in stature than us.
Second the massive mussels they are developing relocating all that snow will allow them to squash us like insignificant bugs. Ouch!
I suspect at Summit Point there may be some retribution in order for us. Keep all eye's and ears open and don't say I didn't warn you.

It just WONT STOP!
The other Bill has a nice new tractor for his snow.
I got a 20 year old snow blower that keeps breaking down.
It's OK Bruce, We are use to people giving us crap about our weather. I have a brother in-law that lives in Florida, he calls every snow storm to remind us that it is snowing here... Really, I didn't notice!
Oh, and Dave...
Just kidding guys. Have fun and be safe. See you when I see you. _________________ Bill

More snow, extreme cold temperatures! I can't take it anymore! Now what was I talking about??
Dar- I officially appoint you as sidecar groundhog. After you make your first ride, I know it will be warm enough for me to ride in 90days. |

OK, David, if that's the way you want to play it -
Consider yourself on notice that you WILL be riding by May 19th this year
I love a challenge, especially if it's something that I really wanted to do anyway. Temperature was in the mid 20's today, and the last snow was a few days ago, long enough that the (main) roads are pretty much cleared and dry, prediction for tomorrow is more snow and high temps in the mid teens. So here's where I went today:
went by the mall to look at the snow mountains:
then rode around beautiful Saratoga Lake - those are ice fishing shanties on the lake in the background:
Yes, I had my heated jacket liner, gloves and handgrips all turned on and had nice ride, about 27 miles. Got a few curious looks and one smile and wave from random people I passed.
But I saw the real heroes down in New York City last week - I saw a few people riding around town on scooters with temps down in the mid teens. Now THOSE are the real _________________ David D

Dar, did you see that our friends in Kentucky got a dusting of snow on Monday? It passed through here on Tuesday morning....only about three inches....not worth firing up the snow blower for, so I just sent Louise out with the broom. :>)

Well Dar, did you see that our friends in Kentucky and Boston are setting new records for snow fall? The white crap is falling right now in Bethlehem faster than I can type, and covering up the inch and a half of ice I wasn't able to remove from the driveway yesterday.
I hope all this snow fall is putting everyone in the right frame of mind to attend some motorcycle events once the riding season gets here. It would be nice to see everyone at Summit Point this year.

Well, Bruce, I guess I'm the lucky one this time. Today's storm that hit our friends in Kentucky, you and our friends up in New England was a total non-event for my area. Skies were cloudy and it was cold, but those north winds bringing the cold temps kept the snow well to my south. The only bad part was the warm temperatures yesterday (mid to high 30's around here) which turned the nice powdery snow we had to hard icy stuff when the temperature went back into the 20's today and it's headed down to about 0 tonite. So unless we get some more light powdery snow, it looks like this season's cross country skiing is over for now
And don't even suggest that I try skiing on this hard icy crust we have now, I tried that 30 some years ago and tore my ACL completely apart when one ski broke thru the crust and got stuck, while my body kept going. OUCH
But, SPRING IS ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AWAY

Well, as I indicated in the Summit Point 2015 thread, I won't be able to make it this year. I'll be riding on 2 wheels half-way around the world at that time. But, I will be in the company of 2 sidecar rigs on that trip. _________________ David D

Leaving on a nice long ride this Thursday (14th) to Olympia Washington. The trip should be between 10-12 thousand miles total by the time I return. I used Butler Motorcycle Map's online RidingSocial trip planning program to route it. The best roads that they have personally ridden are rated with Yellow, Red and Orange. It is recommended that if you are within a days ride of the Yellow roads to make sure to ride them. So my route to Washington looks like a drunk laid it out. Once in Washington my wife, Bea, will fly out to join me and we will ride down the Pacific Coast highway they over to Yosemite and then follow the mountain range back north. When she flies home, I will head back to Tallahassee through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, etc. once again hitting as many Yellow roads as I can. On my ride there and back I will be staying in the "tent camp trailer" that I put together. Not sure if I am doing this right, but here are a couple of pictures of it before completion. Since these pictures were take, I have added a Rotopax gas can underneath the rear portion of the "box" and a cover for the TentCot.

Bill Mc, Bill B, Ralph, Jay,
June 27 – 28, 2015 – Sidecar Racers Association East. Summit Point Raceway, West Virginia - CCS
Any High Performance Sidecars or others attending this year? Nancy and I will probably be checking in to the motel Sat. evening for the finals and trophies on Sun as we have a lot to squeeze in that week.
We hope to see you there.

Sorry for the delayed response, been a super busy spring! Yes, several of us are going to Summit Point and staying at the same motel. See you there.
