Has anyone with a chain drive tried to tweek the angle of their rear wheel to make the sidecar track better.
Angle the wheel to the right very slightly to aid the toe in on the sidecar, maybe tire wear too. _________________ Bill

It's best to keep the drivetrain (drivechain?) all in alignment. In addition to increased sprocket/chain wear, it's going to be hard on the wheel bearings due to a lateral wheel wobble being introduced, as well as the countershaft bearing seal and bearings being stressed by the unequal pull on the bearing assembly inside of the case.
With your Blackbird, you'll also run into issues with your rear brake caliper assembly, which uses the swing arm to mount against flat.. the brake rotor will be rotating against it less than square, causing premature, uneven pad wear. _________________ Homebrew '99 Suzuki Bandit 1200 / '88 Hannigan Comet

So what is the best method to ensure the wheel is straight?

But the rear caliper mount, which mounts on the axle, is held true by the slot on the swingarm, correct? If the axle is out of true alignment, the caliper mount won't be meeting the swingarm true i'd think.. but i could be wrong here in it's effect on the brake pads. _________________ Homebrew '99 Suzuki Bandit 1200 / '88 Hannigan Comet

No, I do not believe so. The axel aligns the caliper, the slot only stops it from spinning. There is a ton of slop in the slot. I say a ton probably .010 of an inch. _________________ Bill

A string stretched tight equal distance from the wheel (not the tire) works well for checking to see if the bike is in line front and rear. _________________ Claude Stanley

Not intending to stray from the idea of cocking the rear wheel but in talking about the adjustemnts of the rig 's tracking I asked this question previously with no response.
Does anyone play with the scrub radius of the front wheel to adjust the tracking of the rig? Spacer plates maybe?

No, I have not, but I know someone who has.
Could not space the wheel over enough using the lug studs to make any difference. _________________ Bill

Yes and I only use about 1/2 inch toe in.
Then the rest is spring and shock adjutments, maybe tire pressure. _________________ Bill
