Which of your tires wears out first?

My sidecar tire seems to go first, worn on the outside. I get about 8 to 10 K miles out of it. Next is the rear tire.

I've never "worn" out a front, just change it when I do the rear (before it dry rots.)

So, am I running to much toe in?

With the EML sideways swing arm the sidecar tire does change camber as is moves up and down, sort of like a swing axle VW bug. I've got it where is pretty much vertical under load. Maybe that's not helping??

I'm not complaining, just curious.

Mike

Hi Mike,
My tire wear was about even I would say.
Maybe a little more on the sidecar tire.
I was running about 1/2" of toe in.

The zx14, I am predicting the rear will wear a lot quicker.

Just checked tire wear on the Bandito...
Started the trip to Alaska last summer with 3 new tires: Vredestein Sporttrac on the front and sidecar, a different profile (larger diameter) Bridgestone on the rear. Today, about 12.5k miles later, there's a little over 3/16ths inch of tread on the sidecar wheel, and about 1/16th more rubber left on the front wheel. Less tread remaining on the rear tire, but I don't know if that started with the same depth of tread as the other 2 tires.

Then checked the tires that I took off last year (the ones that came on the Bandito when I bought it 10k miles earlier), same wear pattern - more wear on the sidecar than the front wheel, less tread remaining on the rear. In fact, the tires that I took off measure just about the same tread on all 3 tires as what's on the bike now.
