Well, since I was up in Maine anyway (see my post in General Discussion, 2014 NHMS), I stopped in to see an old Coast Guard buddy I was stationed with in the early 70's. He's a biker, too - used to ride a Ducati single, and had a couple of Norton Commandos way back then. Now, he's updated to a 1990 FJ1200:
He's always been interested in all things mechanical, seemed pretty impressed with the sidecar, particularly that trick front suspension and steering.
From there, I headed to Houlton, ME, the eastern end of the eastern part of US Rt2:
Then I just started following signs for Rt 2 West. Riding along Rt2 in Maine, I saw Mt Katadhin in the distance,
and the White Mountains in NH,
and kept going til I got to Rouse's Point, NY, the western end of the eastern part of US Rt2:
Back home now, but in a couple of weeks, plan to head for St Ignace, Michigan, where Rt2 starts up again and follow it to Everett, Washington, all on my way to Summit Point next month _________________ David D
