Kool Karen and I just made reservations for Wednesday and Thursday with Friday a possibility as well.

We'll be riding up Wednesday afternoon from N GA.

I've attended a couple of these before, but not in a while.

Looking forward to meeting some old and new friends.

Here's the rig we'll be on:

And what we look like (helping out at an EAA Young Eagles event recently):

Hello from the Northeast to all my friends,

We are having some, hopefully minor, health problems.
And will not be attending our Maggie Valley event this year.
I am very sorry and Hope we can all be together next year.

And we haven't heard anything from Ron 'n Robin, or Roger..

This is starting to get scary now. I may be the only one at Maggie Valley to represent the whole Northeast. And we already know what those "other" guys think of me...

Well, I'll be brave and do my best not to disgrace the NE section of the continent. Embarassed But I sure can't ride fast enough to keep up with that Kentucky crowd. Hope I don't get lost and left behind. Crying or Very sad

For the rest of you who will be there - see you an a few days (my anticipated ETA is Tuesday PM). Big Grin Big Grin

If I am still here I will be there next year.
Best Wishes to all.

HERE and THERE Question Question Question
Come on Ralph, I know you're a pretty amazing person, but really, how are you planning to be in two places at once?

But seriously:
Due in part to some stuff here at home that I was trying to blow off till a later date, and also in part to this year's underwhelming response, I have decided that I will NOT be going to Maggie Valley next week, either. Sad Sad

Wow!

I hope our decision to attend this year was not the proverbial "kiss of death"!

Anyway, we're committed*.

Even if it ends up being just us we are still going to have a blast riding some of the best roads in the country and having new adventures and stories to tell.

Or maybe it will end up being just a few of the hard core. Either way, look for us if you do manage to make it.

*or possibly should be! Very Happy

Dang! Fast Eddie although you both look very happy, it is just pain sad to see such an empty parking lot. Really sorry I am not there to meet and ride with you folks. I hope at least a few of the regular crew show up to enjoy the amazing roads around Maggie Valley with you. Have fun and ride FAST but safe.

Just to let everyone know we made it home safely.

Left yesterday and rode HWY 215 south from Bethel to US64 (VERY cool road), lunch in Highlands, then home.

Disappointing turnout, of course, but David and Chauntay were great company and riding partners.

At Mt. Mitchell:

Before the rain...

And the clouds and rain moved in...

We enjoyed the Maggie Valley location, but other groups I've been involved with have seen similar falloff in attendance when the location is the same year after year. Maybe different locales each year might add variety. Just a thought.

Looks like Jacob and my last trip to Mt Mitchell. Summer before last we took a trip there from the Boone BMW rally. Its sort of a tradition to ride there and eat lunch at the state park restaurant.

We stopped at the restaurant, just as the rain started. As we were getting off the rig a young couple in a two seat Mercedes parked next to us. They commented on the rig, so I offered to trade it for their car, at least until the rain stopped. Long story short after we ate, the waitress brought the bill, it was marked paid. She had no idea who, the manager just said it was another customer. When we got back to the bike the Merc was gone.
