Sidecar record is just under 56 MPH average.... on a largely dirt road with hairpin turns and blind drop-offs. But, the sidecar record should be fairly easy to beat - the 500cc quads are running faster. The car record is about 74 MPH.
This would be a great year to go to Pike's Peak - the state has a plan to pave the road all the way up, which would basically ruin the race. So if you've ever been interested, now's the time. |

Ruin it? You kidding... sounds like it's time for the race to finally get -good- for sidecars and motorcycles.
F1 hillclimb... here we come!

Yeah, okay - how about "totally change the race". Turn it from a WRC style rally stage into a touring car race.
How much ground clearance does a F1 sidecar have? There are some seriously steep hairpins on Pike's Peak - makes even roads like Page Mill seem straight and flat. |

How much do we need? Everything on an F1/F2 is adjustable to suit the conditions. Give it a little more spring, increase the ride height about 20mm all around, and back off on the rebound. Good to go.
The SRA used to run Donner when it was still active, so I'd imagine Pikes would be more than viable. Donner was before my time, I was racing solos with the AFM then. The gents overseas regularly run their modern rigs in the various sprints and hillclimbs that are hosted all over the UK and Europe, they seem to enjoy it.
I couldn't imagine Pikes could be any worse/technical than the full configuration of Reno/Fernley. Or the asphalt any more bone jarring than Reno/Fernley/Buttonwillow.
They pave it, we'll make sure we have the weekend free on the calendar so we can be the first to get our names in the record book. _________________ The Bad Blog http://blog.badcatracing.com |

Normally, Nono the pilote and Gazelle the femalle will race at Pikes Peak this year.
They have a very good habit to race because they race the French Rally Championship till 2003 for Nono, and 2005 for Gazelle.
Their side have a great horsepower, and they don't have problems with the height, because the motor run with injection.
They will be the first team with a man and a woman to climb PP.
I hope they win their category, and put a new record for the sidecars.
