Merlins isn't a big company, they only build one at a time not mass produced. They could not send lots of sidecar over to the states, they don't have that kind of money.
You must be smart, you recognised my Merlin straight away, that put you one up already.
\so what do you ride ? |

Don't let Ralph fool ya, he's smarter than he lets on.
What's the rack on the back of the Merlin? I see the Handicap placard on the chair, is it for a wheel chair? (I'm in the process of getting a trailer for my rig to haul number two son's chair.)

Welcome to the forum Keith, excellent ride!! I've always liked the look of the Merlin. If memory serves me correct, I contacted Merlin once asking them if they had a right side mounted version and I believe they said they weren't set up to do that. How long have you had it? Love to hear more about the HPS scene over there and any pictures or links you could post would be great. If you know anyone else that have Merlin's or other HPS rigs, please ask them to come and join us. |

Thanks Guys for the welcome, I didn't realise Merlins were so well known.
Ralph
Great web site is that yours the yellow and green outfit, look slike it's built for speed. I'll be looking through your web site more closer, later tonight, your morning.

Not sure if I should talk to you from North Carolina, your beautiful scenery and peaceful lifestyle have enticed our Head Coach Bill Cowher into retirement there.
I'm a big big Steelers fan
The blue thing at the back of me is my folding chair, we were on our way to a show, lots of sitting around.
At the back of Anne (my wife/passenger) is a yellow frame that is her wheelchair folded up, the wheels are detachable.
See photo of how I get her in & out, everything stows away, when on the road.

Heres a few Uk sites for you
www.sidecars.org.uk
www.merlinsidecarowners.blotspot.com
www.merlinsidecars.co.uk
www.westcountrysidecars.co.uk
www.unitsidecars.co.uk
The scene over here is quiet but the Federation of sidecars (1st site) is the main one who organises meetings and rallies, they usually get around 200 outfits to their meeting.

It's kind of relative. Being well known on this forum means maybe 20 people know about them. Up until recently there were no High Performance sidecars manufacrutred in the US, so we all just stared at pictures of European rigs. The Merlins, being on the left, just seemed beyond our reach.
A nice solution for carrying the chair and transferring to it. Now the youngest only weighs fifty pounds so we can still transfer him, but before long he'll be to big.
Here's picture of my rig.

hi keith
its amazing where all these sidecarists hide and i look forward to seeing you later in the year and would love to do a fed rally that sounds like fun as we enjoy a rally occasionally, if im really lucky santa might bring me an outfit like yours?
i'm just getting ready to take the chair off and fit upgraded wheels brakes etc to the chair and front-end if you want to see pictures look on www.myspace.com/mosesgould as i have the bike as it is now dec 2008 and i will add more in about 3 weeks time hopefully if my shaft material & bearings arrive, i would of bought a different bike but funds only run to modding what i'v got.
i will take more photo's of parts as they are machined this time so other's may pick fault or even learn something themselve's hopefully.
