Here in NY, only got up to 86 today, and the humidity seems to be going down, in the 40-50% range now, so it's not quite as bad as some of you are having it. Actually quite pleasant out on the bike this afternoon, as long as I kept moving. My lucky wife is out in St Louis this week, looks like it hit 98 deg and 80% humidity there today. But I would guess she's staying inside air conditioned spaces. |

|

It was 101 F this afternoon in my area of southern California with a high in recent days of 114 F. The biggest problem is that we are experiencing humidity readings in the 40's which is quite high for us. I'm a Registered Nurse and work the Intensive Care Unit most of the time. We've had eight patients in San Bernardino lately who were brought in to the ER with a core temp of 108 F to 110 F. They weren't doing anything out of the ordinary but got overheated too quickly to do anything about it themselves. Unfortunately, it cost them their lives.
Be careful to stay hydrated! Another complication of high heat and motorcycles is dehydration which can lead to blood clots in your extremities or your lungs. I wear a CamelBack when I'm riding in the heat even if I'm not on an all day marathon ride. Not trying to be morbid here. Just a reminder to be careful in the heat.
I'm working on putting together my first HP rig and am new to the forum. Pics and updates will be posted as they become available! |

Hi Rick,
Welcome to the forum. That news is tragic. Something I never give a second thought too, but should be aware of. Never gets that hot here in massachusetts, but we do have high humidity. I think aproaching 70% today. In the high 80s F. _________________ Bill
