Its been slow going lately, parenting and home owner stuff have been using up a lot of time the last couple weeks,,,,,and the last bit of "barn time" was a full day of one step forward, two steps back.

I know the feeling! I'm expecting to have my rig on Sunday. Hope we get some sunshine so I can give it a good ride. |

Docmike, what is the front end you are using? Did you fabricate it or did you buy it? If you bought it, from who, and how much.
Thanks,

Mike, how about you throw parts and all on a trailer and come to MV a day early and maybe between the hillbilly and yankee engineering teams we could stick it all together so you can ride! I'm sure there must be a welder in MV. They must sell Krylon there too. |

Some small victories today.
First here's the old sidecar suspension
EML uses a sideways swingarm, pivot is next to the bike, theoreticaly provides camber change to keep tire flat through susepnsion travel, sort of like a swing axle VW Beetle.
I'm maintaining the swingarme pivot , just extending it and modifying for new hub.
The hub bolts on here.
OK, so its a little crooked, or could it be an optical delusion????????
Anyhow, here it is with hub attached
You don't even notice its crooked any more.
With the long swingarm for the sidecar, I'm going that way for the front also. Here's the pivot for the front end.
The rod end on the sidecar side pivot mounting plate is for an extra mount between bike frame and sidecar, which I'm starting to wonder if I really need.

Hi Mike,
With the front swing arm mounted between the bike and sidecar, If I understood correctly. How are you going to adjust toe in? |

Sidecar toe in will be shims where the hub bolts to the swingarm. That was one of the design criteria, to be able to adjust toe in and sidecar wheels caster with out moving the sidecar. |

Decided I needed additional brackets for the bike side front swingarm pivot
First to upper transmission mount.
another view
Then underneath the transmission
What the sidecar frame looks like now
Notice new mounts for sidecr body, moves body about 4 inches to the right.
Also the new alternative power source

Mike,
Could we get another shot of your "new alternative power source"? I can't quite make it out from that one picture; it's a little too dark or something...

I'm going to guess it is a miniture steam engine? That is the most I could make out of it. |
