Bill M and Bill B, amongst others, are using the Honda 4"x4 bolt pattern rim assembly with the fluted 10 spoke pattern and removeable ring cover for the bolts. A purusal at the wrecking yard of their rim catalog does not show a corresponding rim available.. I need to know what model and years of Honda that these rims were available as a dealer option.. the one i'd already picked up, is of the wrong type (see http://banditbills.blogspot.com for photo's/brief description of what i'm referring to).

Can anyone assist with this info?

Thanks

Thought i had a set sourced through a computer search at the local bone yard.. the search yielded 4 wheels sitting at a yard in Maryland. I called them and tried to do a phone order, and after a rather abrupt and surly conversation, got refused a sale because, to quote "if you want them you gotta come by yourself and get 'em" once they found out they were shipping to Canada. Thank you very 'effing much. Oh well.

Condon's auto parts (410) 848-4140 apparently has four, if anyone else is comtemplating modifications similar to me, and if you dare take a chance with these jokers. I fired off an email to 'em expressing my displeasure, it'll prolly serve as something good to laugh at in the morning for them.

On with the search.

The Honda wheels everyone is using were not stock on any car. They were a dealer option for the 1999 Civic Si, but would also fit other Civics. They are a 15" x 6" wheel, with standard Honda 4 x 100 bolt pattern. Since they were a dealer installed option only, they're somewhat rare.

The normal Civics of that era came with a 14" wheel, but the Si model (in the USA only) came with a 15" x 6" wheel stock. That wheel looks different, but would most likely work equally well; the main thing to check would be the inside clearance. If they do work, those wheels are probably more common in junkyards.

Later years of Civic went to a 15" wheel, but most of them come with steel wheels stock. Only the Si comes with alloys standard.

Note for Canadians: Civics in Canada and the USA are different. For instance, the model badged as a 1999 "Si" in Canada was the same as the 1999 "EX" in the USA. I'm not sure if the American "Si" was imported into Canada at all.

It appears these rims were available for the civic EX/Si for at least two periods of time.. as you mentioned, on the US spec '99 Si, and the 2002 spec Civic EX. I was never able to get a straight answer from Honda Canada on this, but my local dealer indicated that there was very limited availability of these rims on the CDN market in 2002 as a dealer option, and that there are no spares held in CDN warehousing since. Unless you get them from the US, these rims are inobtanium on the CDN market in Honda stock, and very rare to come by on the used market.

I did get the stock of 4, kept 2, and sold 2 FWIW..
